Pray For Sweden’s Non-existent Terror Attack

trump can lie faster than you can fact check

In English: This happened in Sweden Friday night, Mr President

During rally, he said this….
“You look at what’s happening in Germany. You look at what’s happening last night in Sweden … Sweden … who would believe this?…”
Another example of how he’ll lie about anything.

U.S. president Donald Trump gave a speech in Melbourne, Florida, Saturday evening.

While speaking about keeping America safe he mentioned the major terrorist attacks in Nice, Paris and Brussels – and in the same sentence he pointed out an unspecified event in Sweden Friday evening.

”You look at what happened last night in Sweden”, he said.

Mr President, here is what happened in Sweden Friday night…

Draining the Swamp?

elizabeth warren on draining the swamp

– EMILY CADEI (Newsweek)

…As part of his populist appeal, Trump promised to drain the fetid “swamp” along the Potomac, an incestuous bog teeming with powerful politicians and moneyed interests, and to “end the cycle of corruption” in Washington. But the White House’s recent executive order extending the lobbying ban on executive branch officials is unlikely to stem the lobbying “revival” predicted by leading Republican lobbyist Trent Lott, the former Senate majority leader.

Instead, Trump’s election is likely to feed the swamp monsters. For an industry premised on dealmaking, the return of one-party rule in Washington offers the welcome end—at least temporarily—to political gridlock. That means major policy changes are in the works, which promise to fundamentally alter billion-dollar industries. And precisely because so few people or companies had anticipated a Trump White House, there is all the more need for trusted guides to help navigate these murky waters.

Far from draining the swamp, the Trump administration is poised to make it rain.

Trump Family Lifestyle Expensive For Taxpayers

Trump family’s elaborate lifestyle is a “logistical nightmare” — at taxpayer expense

– Drew Harwell, Amy Brittain and Jonathan O’Connell (Washington Post)
2/16/17 website post author’s thoughts:

So the guy who brags about not paying taxes is spending more of our tax dollars than necessary because he absolutely needs to go to Florida every weekend.

Of course we should pay for that. He so obviously deserves it. Because he is a king.</end sarcasm>

On Friday, President Trump and his entourage will jet for the third straight weekend to a working getaway at his oceanfront Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Fla.

On Saturday, Trump’s sons Eric and Don Jr., with their Secret Service details in tow, will be nearly 8,000 miles away in the United Arab Emirates, attending the grand opening of a Trump-brand golf resort in the “Beverly Hills of Dubai.”

Meanwhile, New York police will keep watch outside Trump Tower in Manhattan, the chosen home of first lady Melania Trump and son Barron. And the tiny township of Bedminster, N.J., is preparing for the daunting prospect that the local Trump golf course will serve as a sort of northern White House for as many as 10 weekends a year.

Barely a month into the Trump presidency, the unusually elaborate lifestyle of America’s new first family is straining the Secret Service and security officials, stirring financial and logistical concerns in several local communities, and costing far beyond what has been typical for past presidents — a price tag that, based on past assessments of presidential travel and security costs, could balloon into the hundreds of millions of dollars over the course of a four-year term.

First House Republican Signs Bill To Investigate

First House Republican signs bill creating committee to investigate Russia, election

Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.) has become the first House Republican to co-sponsor a bill calling for an independent investigation of foreign interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Republicans have generally opposed setting up a special committee to look into Russia’s hacking Democratic organizations and individuals, which President Trump has repeatedly minimized. At his press conference on Thursday, he called it a “ruse.”

But Jones has a long history of bucking his leadership, so his support for the Democratic bill does not come as a surprise.

“Congressman Jones is brave enough to do the right thing,” Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), who introduced the bill with Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), said in a statement.

Open Letter From Pulitzer Winner To Trump And Fourth Reich

trump who the hell do you thnk you are

Just who the hell do you think you are?” Pulitzer Prize winning columnist for the Miami Herald blasts Trump in a scathing open letter

Samuel Warde (Liberals Unite)

Leonard Pitts, Jr. penned an open letter to Trump and “other members of the Fourth Reich” asking the question that has been on the mind of many Americans these days:

“Just who the hell do you think you are?”

A nationally syndicated columnist and winner of the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Commentary, Pitts rose to national prominence after writing a widely circulated column on September 12, 2001, entitled “Sept. 12, 2001: We’ll go forward from this moment,” discussing the indestructible nature of the American spirit in the face of the September 11 attacks.

He is also the author of author of Becoming Dad: Black Men and the Journey to Fatherhood, and Before I Forget.

Pitts began his letter to Trump with a snipe at his pitiful showing in the popular vote and referencing the controversy surrounding his connection to Russia:

You were elected as chief executive of the United States. I won’t belabor the fact that you won with a minority of the popular vote and a little help from your friends, FBI Director James Comey and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The bottom line is, you were elected.
“And this does entitle you to certain things,” he continues, adding that “there is one thing to which your election does not entitle you. It does not entitle you to do whatever pops into your furry orange head without being called on it or, should it run afoul of the Constitution, without being blocked.”

He Inherited A Mess. Really? Seriously?

job growth chart

Fact check: Trump said he “inherited a mess.” Did he really?

Josh Boak and Calvin Woodward (Associated Press)
2/16/17 website post author’s thoughts:

Yeah. He seriously said this.

Which word does he use more often anyway, disaster or mess?

President Donald Trump on Thursday made a messy case that he “inherited a mess” from his predecessor. Economic stats and territorial losses of Islamic State insurgents don’t support his assertions about the problems handed to him on those fronts.

A look at some of his claims in a news conference Thursday and how they compare with the facts:

TRUMP: “To be honest I inherited a mess. It’s a mess. At home and abroad, a mess.”

THE FACTS: A mess is in the eye of the beholder. But by almost every economic measure, President Barack Obama inherited a far worse situation when he became president in 2009 than he left for Trump. He had to deal with the worst downturn since the Depression.
